- NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD SOLE SOURCE: PORTABLE GAMMA RAY SPECTROMETERThe United States Geological Survey (USGS) intends to award a non-competitive purchase order to RADIATION SOLUTIONS, INC. Radiation Solutions, Inc. is the only known company in North America that manufactures a handheld gamma-ray spectrometer system, the RS-230 Super-SPEC Handheld with 2.0� x 2.0� BGO crystal has the capability of detecting and quantitatively measuring the content of uranium (U), thorium (Th), and potassium (K). In accordance with FAR 5.207, all responsible sources may submit a bid, proposal or quotation which shall be considered by the agency, however, THIS NOTICE IS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. The Government intends to award this requirement noncompetitively in accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b)(1).The USGS, Eastern Energy Resources Science Center (EERSC) seeks a handheld gamma-ray spectrometer capable of detecting and quantitatively measuring the content of U, Th, and K. The gamma-ray spectrometer must be light-weight (4.5 lb. or less) and weatherproof with added boot. The gamma-ray spectrometer also must have the capability to interface with a global positioning system (GPS) via Bluetooth and use RS Analyst software.All responsible sources may submit a bid, proposal, or quotation which shall be considered by the agency. However, this notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A firm-fixed price award will be made on or about 01/13/2020. The NAICS code for this action is 334519, Other Measuring and Controlling Device Manufacturing, for which the associated size standard is 500 employees. A vendor must be registered at https://www.sam.gov/index.html to be awarded the contract.
