- NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A SOLE SOURCE CONTRACTTHIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS.The U.S. Department of Energy, Western Area Power Administration, intends to award a sole source contract under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (1), to Siemens Industry of Schenectady, New York.Siemens shall provide proprietary software and services for their Siemens Power System Simulation Software for Engineers (PSS/E) and the Geomagnetic Induced Current (GIC) analysis module for the PSS/E software.As the developer/manufacturer of the software, no other source is available to meet the needs of Western Area Power Administration for this requirement.
