- Description
- A Sources Sought Notice is a market research tool being used to determine the availability and adequacy of potential business sources prior to determining the method of acquisition. The intent of this Sources Sought Notice is to identify qualified firms and potential solutions for used ground tire disposal. The existing situation is as follows: DLA Disposition Services has approximately 2.5 million pounds (annually) of used ground tires that require removal and disposal. Examples of the types of used tires include, but are not limited to, the following: Humvee tires, aircraft ground tires, passenger vehicle tires, heavy equipment tires, semi-truck tires, heavy military wheeled vehicle tires, etc. These tires are located at various Department of Defense installations throughout the Continental United States (CONUS). We are exploring removal solutions that include, but are not limited to, public sales of the used tire inventory, return to manufacturer (RTM) options, and standard removal and disposal. Upon review of industry response to this Sources Sought Notice, the Government will determine the contracting method to be utilized to accomplish the stated objective. The North American Industry Classification Standard (NAICS) code for this project is 423930 (Recyclable Material Merchant Wholesalers). The size standard for this NAICS code is 100 employees. NAICS code compliance verification will occur if/when proposals are submitted. As stipulated in FAR 15.201, responses to this notice are not considered offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract.
