- The Copyright Clearance Center (CCC) established in 1978 after the establishment of the United States Copyright Act of 1976 whose sole purpose is to provide collective copyright licensing services for corporate and academic users of copyrighted materials. The Command and General Staff College (CGSC) at Fort Leavenworth relies upon the purchase of a single license in order to achieve annual rights to all copyright material for this academic institution as opposed to procuring rights for of educational material from each publisher would be a burdensome amount of effort in terms of time and labor hours to ensure all materials taught are not in violation of current copyright laws.
