- Description
- This is a SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is conducting a MARKET SURVEY to determine the interest and capability of any firm eligible to compete under NAICS code 541380 for geochemical analyses of rock samples. The USGS has a requirement for geochemical analysis of the following (but not limited to) various rock samples, sulfide and silicate samples, sediments, soils, waters, and solid-media leached samples from a single vendor. The USGS is expecting to issue a sole source award to Activation Labs (ACT Labs) in Ancaster, Ontario, Canada, in order to maintain data continuity and quality at very low elemental concentrations and low elemental detections needs. Should other firms be determined able to supply these supplies/services a competitive acquisition will be considered. Required services include analysis for: Major elements using fusion XRF technique; Trace elements using quantitative total digestion research ICP-MS technique; Ag using Aqua Regia-ICP technique; Au using Aqua Regia-FGAA; Hg using cold vapor FIMS; Ferromagnesian trace elements and arsenic-INAA; Carbon and Sulfur metallurgical balance package; Hydrides-ICP-MS; Leaching for trace metals and other species. The analytical data must be prepared by techniques, including XRF, a variety of inductively coupled plasmamass spectrometry (ICP-MS), instrumental neutron activation (INAA), and others, using additional chemical techniques for leach analyses of rocks and minerals, and procedures for sample handling and preparation developed. The techniques must meet the highest standards of replicability and for lab cleanliness during sample preparation and provide related geochemical analyses on aliquots of the sample splits by other methods, which in some cases will supplement those acquired by ICP-MS and for checking for internal standards to ensure high quality determinations using blind samples. Older data will be combined with newly acquired data. It is critical that the same analytical procedures be used to ensure that the data are robust and statistically significant, and that we obtain consistent results for overall comparisons with data obtained in previous years and in different but related environmental and metallogenic projects. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION. ALL COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH PROVIDING INFORMATION AS REQUESTED BY THIS SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. If providing a response to this announcement, please indicate your firm'"334290
