- Image Acoustics, Inc. holds the design patent, US Patent 8,072,843 B1, for the Stepped Tonpilz Acoustic Transducer (STAT) and has licensed the fabrication rights to Falmouth Scientific, Inc. (FSI). FSI previously fabricated the STAT under purchase order N66604-17-P-1470, redesigned the stress rods under purchase order N66604-18-P-2061 and modified the suspension system under purchase order N66604-19-P-1834. Due to patent and licensing constraints, FSI is the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and the only vendor with the fabrication processes, specialized tooling and requisite knowledge and expertise to modify the current product. With that rationale in mind, the subject purchase order was awarded on a fixed-price, sole source basis.
