- 36C25020Q0371 SPECIAL NOTICE NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE Avantik Slide Printers The Cleveland Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center, 10701 East Blvd Cleveland, OH 44106 intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.1061(b)(1)-Contracting officers may solicit from one source if the contracting officer determines that the circumstances of the contract action deem only one source reasonably available. The NAICS code is 339113 with a small business size standard of 750. The VA intends to solicit and negotiate with Belair Instrument Company LLC, DBA Avantik 36 Commerce Street, PO box 619 Springfield, NJ 07081. P&LMS at the Louis Stokes Cleveland VAMC requires five (5) replacement slide printers. This is an essential piece of equipment which is utilized in the diagnosis of patient tissue specimens by the Pathologist. This is an integral part of patient safety for labeling the patient tissue slides, as it enhances the speed, efficiency and accuracy of the histopathology. Printers shall have reliable labeling information which will not be compromised by the chemicals used in processing tissues, provide legible and versatile fonts, shall be durable enough to withstand daily, high volume usage, and shall have integrated tracking and process verification. Compatibility of cassette and slide software is essential, and the department is currently standardized on ThermoFisher Scientific Printmate and Slidemate systems. Requested equipment shall work in conjunction with systems already in place. Other persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement by Wednesday March 4, 2020 at 2pm. Such capabilities information will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. �All information shall be furnished at no cost or obligation to the Government.� A determination by the Government not to open the requirement to competition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
