Description
PERFUSIONIST SERVICES VA BOSTON HEALTHCARE SYSTEM Services solicited: The contractor shall furnish all personnel to provide Perfusion Services in accordance with the terms and conditions contained herein to eligible beneficiaries of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Boston Healthcare System (BHCS) at the West Roxbury campus. The Contractor s perfusionists care shall cover the range of perfusion as would be provided in a state-of-the-art civilian medical treatment facility and the standard of care shall be of a quality meeting or exceeding currently recognized national standards as established by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion, http://www.abcp.org. All Perfusionists shall be certified with at least a minimum of ten (10) years of experience. All Perfusionists shall be a graduate of an accredited Allied Health Education Program School of Perfusion Technology and shall be certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion, demonstrate evidence of meeting continuing education requirements and shall have performed a minimum of 1000 clinical cases. Experience shall be demonstrated in the following areas: Open heart surgery, autotransfusion, heart lung machine, membrane oxygenation, left/right heart bypass, intra-aortic balloon pumping and centrifugal ventricular assist device. The contractor shall provide qualified Perfusionists for a consistent, stable work force, which will sustain the VA s outstanding quality of care and provide practices that are unique to our institution such as use of myocardial pH, low dose heparin, and no blood to gas interface. These practices provide highly desirable outcomes in decreased transfusions and reduced lengths of stay. The Contractor shall provide a minimum of one Chief Perfusionist and enough perfusion staff to cover cases 24 hours per day, 7 days per week with a 45-minute on-call response time. The VA Full Time Equivalency (FTE) is defined by VA as a minimum of 80 hours every two weeks and does not include holidays. We expect this to be 1.0 FTEE Chief Perfusionist and 3.8 FTEE Staff Perfusionists. The majority of elective cases are scheduled between 7:30am and 5:30pm; perfusion staff shall report to the operating room one hour before the case is scheduled for setup and will stay until all cases are complete and SICU/PACU sign-off is received.
