Description
This project requires blasting services for work on Treasury Mountain in the Ragged Wilderness on the White River NF located in Western Colorado.� A concrete pad and 7-8 foundation columns require blasting to reduce the overall size to allow for future hand removal. All blasting must be completed by surface charges as drilling is prohibited in Wilderness areas. � Experience:� Offerors SHALL have �experience surface blasting in a wilderness environment. Location:� This project site is located in the Ragged Wilderness in Township 12 South, Ranger 87 West, Section 21 in Gunnison County.� From the Paradise Basin trailhead, you will need to hike approximately 2.5 miles.� The footpath is loose, unconsolidated rock, along a hillside. The nearest existing structures are greater than one straight-line mile from the project site.� GPS Coordinates: 39 degrees, 0 min, 34.76 sec 107 degrees, 6 min, 9 sec Site Access:� From Crested Butte go to the Yule Pass trailhead located in Paradise Basin. Walk along an old mining road along the drainage to the pass (Wilderness Boundary). From the pass descend into Yule Creek looking for an old mining road on your right (~2.5 miles from trailhead.� Follow the mining road towards Treasury Mountain till you run into debris pile on a small ridge. Do not attempt to access this site by vehicle. Walking from the trailhead is mandatory. The site is ~ 12,000 feet so consider weather, fitness, and time constraints. The project site and access to the project site are snow-free only From July through September.
