- Description
- NASA/Johnson Space Center has a requirement for Pyrotechnic Devices that will be utilized by multiple Agency-wide Projects and Programs. NASA/Johnson Space Center intends to purchase the devices from Chemring Energetic Devices (CED). The devices include the NASA Standard Initiator- 1 (NSI-1), NASA Standard Initiator- 3A (NSI-3A), and NASA Standard Detonator (NSD). CED is currently the only source with NASA qualification to fabricate, assemble, and conduct performance acceptance testing on the pyrotechnic devices. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to Shine Lin at shine.lin@nasa.gov not later than 4:00 p.m. local time on 4/22/2020.� Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis.� A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.
