- Description
- This is a Request for Information (RFI). This is NOT a solicitation for proposals, proposal abstracts, or quotations. The purpose of this RFI is to gain information on the current industry capabilities and interest to compete in Fair Opportunity Competitions for FWS-I FRP. Since its inception in 2002, Program Executive Office (PEO) Soldier has provided U.S. Soldiers with capabilities to ensure they remain decisive and dominant through the full spectrum of military actions. Ensuring that Soldiers have the most advanced equipment, from protective equipment such as helmets and body armor, to weapons, power solutions and sensors and lasers, means keeping ahead of scientific and engineering innovation. One such effort is the FWS-I which is a lightweight, long-wave infrared sensor that provides imagery, including a reticle, mounted and bore-sighted to the host weapon in battlefield conditions (daylight, night, and obscurants) and meets the requirements of the FWS Capabilities Production Document (CPD) Version 1.6 approved on 1 February 2016. When combined with rapid target acquisition (RTA) compatible night vision device or vision augmentation system, the FWS-I provides RTA capability, which wirelessly sends weapon imagery (with reticle) from the FWS-I sight to be displayed and spatially aligned with the images viewed in a compatible night vision device/vision enhancement system. The FWS-I fully complies with the Intra-Soldier Wireless (ISW) standard and adaptive squad architecture. The FWS-I improves and enhances Soldier lethality, effectiveness, and survivability by reducing exposure to threat weapons. PdM SMS invites industry to provide in writing, their interest and capability to produce FWS-I systems in the programs FRP phase. The written information and questions in reference to this RFI shall be submitted to the Contracting Office POC listed below. PdM SMS is requesting submissions by 26 March 2019. Upon request from interested party, PdM SMS may schedule sessions to address questions, however, funding or future competitions will not be discussed with parties responding to this RFI. Amendment 1 - The following amendment is to provide Questions and Answers as a result from the Vertual Industry Day held April 14th - 16th (see attached). Along with Qustions and Answers is an attachment of Vertual Industry Day attendees. **The Government shall furnish the following controlled document (P Spec) upon email request. All request must be received on or before 15 MAY 2020. The Government reserves the right to revise or edit the following document up until the posting of the solicitation for FWS-I Full Rate Production.***
