Description
The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) serves the educational needs of the dependents of military and civilian employees by providing PK-12 instruction to approximately 70,000 students in 160 brick-and-mortar schools. Student enrollment varies based primarily on the deployment of military troops worldwide. In the Americas, DoDEA operates 51 schools located in seven states, Puerto Rico, and Cuba. In Europe and the Middle East, DoDEA operates 64 schools located in Germany, Italy, England, Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Turkeyand Bahrain. In the Pacific, DoDEA operates 45 schools located in Korea, Japan (mainland and Okinawa), and Guam. DoDEA's curriculum, resources, and student achievement scores on standardized assessments compare favorably to those of high-performing US public school systems. DoDEAs fully accredited Virtual High School has teaching hubs in each DoDEA region: America, Europe, and Pacific. DoDEA schools have various grade configurations, with the most common being PK-5, 6-8, and 9-12. Of DoDEAs 159 brick-and-mortar schools, 100 schools have students in at least three of the grades K-5; 67 schools have at least one grade 6-8; and 40 schools have grades 9-12. Of the 6-8 schools, eight are part of a K-6 or PK-6 school. DoDEA requires a theatre curriculum resource for students in middle and high school drama classes. The required print and digital resources will (1) be broad in scope and focus on multiple areas of the thespian arts, such as acting, characterization, technique, production, history, and culture and (2) provide ageandgrade-appropriate resources. More in-depth information regarding the description of this requirement is stated in the attached Solicitation.
