Sources Sought for ���Horizontal Grinder Unit BACKGROUND: The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), Veterinary Services (VS), National Veterinary Stockpile (NVS) is seeking information regarding the Depopulation and Disposal Assets Suppliers. The NVS� ability to deploy within 24 hours large amounts of critical veterinary resources ensures States have what they need to respond to catastrophes and other outbreaks. �The NVS seeks information on depopulation and disposal assets. PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES: USDA APHIS Veterinary Services is seeking to acquire information from vendors that have the capability to provide, operate and/or transport supplies and equipment that can be leveraged in response to national pandemics or catastrophic animal health emergency. Describe your company�s capability of providing and/or operate the following:� The horizontal grinder unit shall meet the following specifications: 700-800 HP engine In-Feed Conveyor to be equipped with a self-monitoring feed system and/or needs to be adjustable to a minimum speed of 10 feet per minute. Discharge Conveyor needs to be adjustable from 5 to 30 feet per second (a wider range is acceptable). The preferred speed is 7-9 feet per second. Feed Roller should have adjustable down pressure and/or float on top of material being fed to minimize material from being thrown backwards and to minimize material being dragged into the hammers. Screens must wrap at least 190 degrees around the rotor. A full screen assembly must be no more than two screens (i.e. machines with two screens as opposed to machines with many screens). This will minimize the time required to change screen size. A shield for the discharge conveyor that can be attached if needed Devices for catching/diverting metal at the end of the exit conveyor will be removed prior to use. Must have the following four screen sizes (or equivalent square inch area) available and the ability to change screen sizes. 3 inches by 5 inches 6 inches by 9 inches 19 inches by 5 inches 19 inches by 9 inches System must be easily operated by inexperience personnel.� All equipment must have sufficient directions (placards) provided so that an inexperienced person can walk through the set-up, operation, trouble shooting, and stopping of the equipment. Describe your knowledge and/or experience working with Transportable Horizontal Grinder Unit. SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS: All written responses shall be submitted preferably within �_10_ days of issuance of this RFI. Submissions should: (1) use Microsoft Word or Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF); (2) be sent to the point of contact listed in this notice; (3) be minimum 11 font on 8.5 X 11 paper; (4) be complete, sufficiently detailed, and organized in a manner that tracks to the information requested in this RFI; (5) include a single company point of contact with name, title, address, telephone and fax numbers, and e-mail address(es); and (6) not exceed 10 single sided pages in total (not including cover page and cover letter). Other media types (i.e. CD, printed technical information) that meet the submission criteria above will be accepted and should be sent. Material that is advertisement only in nature is not desired. Any questions or inquiries must be mailed, e-mailed or faxed to the Contracting Office, to the attention of the point of contact listed in this notice. Vendors who plan to do business with the federal government must be registered in the SAM system at www.Sam.gov in order to be eligible for a contract award. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether it will become necessary to conduct a competitive procurement.
