Description
The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) is performing market research for a requirement to contract for the acquisition of a Gerstel Autosampler, model: TD-XL-ROB. The auto sampler named is a component module for a larger customized Selected Ion Flow Tube (SIFT) mass spectrometer (MS) for WPAFB research purposes which was developed/manufactured in coordination with Gerstel and SYFT Technologies, Inc. This is a Sources Sought (SS) / Request for Information (RFI). This is not a pre-solicitation or solicitation or Request for Proposal (RFP) and is not to be construed as any commitment by the Government. This notice does not obligate the Government to award a contract and or pay for any bid and/or proposal preparation costs. The Government will not accept proposals at this time. This notice is not an offer by the Government to enter into a contract. Interested Small Business concerns must identify to the contracting officer their interest and capability to satisfy the Government's requirement by closing date listed. Responses will allow the Government to conduct an initial review of market capabilities in support of requirements identified in the specifications listed below. A) Item: GERSTEL MPS Robotic Pro autosampler with TD XL-ROB and TD 3.5+ for SIFT-MS & TD-XL for SIFT-MS The Government is looking for sources that can supply an equivalent item that can meet the governments for the above mentioned item by specifically meeting the following specifications. Currently the Government is unaware of any additional sources besides Gerstel that can fulfill these requirements. B) Specifications: - Must connect and interface with the current; Selected Ion Flow Tube (SIFT) mass spectrometer (MS) in place at Wright-Patterson AFB to include physical fit and software integration. - Must be able to transfer Thermal Desorption tubes directly to the injection port of the instrument AND use the commonly used 3.5"" Thermal Desorption tubes. - The system should also designed with ample cooling mechanisms to allow maximum productivity. - The robotic arm must be able to autonomously change out 30 thermal desorption tubes (3.5"") or 19 mm thermal extraction tubes. - Thermal Desorption Tubes: 3.25"" L x 0.25"" OD - Thermal extractor tubes: 17 cm L x 1.2 cm ID - Adaptable for either tube - Automated to transfer either tube to desorber - Cyro-focusing options: Liquid nitrogen or peltier cooling (preferred) - Split flow capability C) Gerstel TD-XL Specific features in-place at Wright-Patterson AFB: - The GERSTEL TD-XL Thermal Desorber uses unique thermal desorption tubes with the following dimensions: 17cm L x 1.2cm ID. - The TD-XL is mounted on the GERSTEL CIS4 inlet with a SYFT mounting bracket that allows the end user to replace the TD-XL with the GERSTEL TD3.5+ thermal desorber (supplied). The GERSTEL TD3.5+ desorbs either standard 3.5 tubes or GERSETLs unique 3.5+ tubes, designed with a shorter path length from the end of the tube to the frit. This allows the TD3.5+ to be packed with a larger amount of sorbent than a standard 3.5 tube. - The TD-XL or 3.5 tubes use stainless steel adapters that allow for automated transport of the tubes from a sealed tube tray to the thermal desorber. - Automated transport of the TD-XL and 3.5 tubes is accomplished using the GERSTEL MPS autosampler with an electromagnetic gripper. - The TD-XL (supplied) is connected directly to the GERSTEL CIS4 cryofocusing inlet in a vertical fashion, with a design that does not use a transfer line or valve between the TD-XL and the CIS4 cryotrap inlet. - The software control of this system is based on Proprietary Design from GERSTEL. - Purchase to facilitate installation of equipment described above and relocation of existing rail to Thermo-Fisher ISQ SUBMISSION DETAILS: All interested parties are encouraged to submit a response to this SS/RFI announcement. Responses should address the following questions: 1. Company name, cage code, address, point of contact, phone number, and email address 2. Identification of whether the company is currently designated as a Small Business as defined in FAR Part 19.1 and the appropriate category (i.e. 8a, HubZone, etc.) 3. Company description of relevant capability and experience to provide the identified item. A brief history of the organization. 4. Company's potential teammates/subcontractors (if required to ensure success) 5. What, if any, risks or unknowns would hinder industries ability to meet the requirements? The Government encourages you to submit any additional comments or suggestions that you would like to share. Capability package responses and questions shall be sent electronically to the primary and/or alternate Points of Contact. Please be advised that all submissions become Government property and will not be returned.
