- The Malcom Randall VA Medical Center, Research and Development Group intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Hologic for a Hologic Horizon A Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) Bone Densitometer System computer console, monitor, printer, accompanying software, including APEX operating system and software for assessment of FRAX, atypical femoral fractures, visceral fat, and research options (all needed to run the system); power source; and 2-days training. This device and the accompanying components will be used to assess body composition and bone mineral density in humans enrolled in research studies at North Florida/South Georgia VHS. The Horizon A DEXA Bone Densitometer System is the only system that will meet the Gainesville VA s requirements because we require the ability to perform DEXA scans of the whole body, lumbar spine, proximal femur, and various non-traditional skeletal sites (e.g., distal femur and proximal tibia), in a manner that ensures data reproducibility with our ongoing research studies that are currently using a different Hologic Discovery A DEXA system. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, any responsible source who believes it is capable of meeting the requirement and who is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), authorized dealer, authorized distributor or authorized reseller of all the items listed above, may submit a capability statement to the contracting office to the contracting office no later than Friday, July 3, 2020, 4:00 PM EST. A determination not to compete the proposed requirement based upon the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
