- This notices is being posted to satify FAR 5.2 Synosis of Proposed Contract Actions. This requirement is intended to be awarded as a sole source: Subscription services is for to provide GPS remote base stations surveying network for a 1 year period from 8/3/2020 to 8/2/2021, plus two option years. This service is required for our 12 Trimble GPS units to function when used in the field. The service is required throughout all NRCS service areas in CA. NRCS has made a major investment over the last 20 years and purchased over 20 Trimble GPS survey grade units for all of our Service Centers and Area offices. These machines continue to provide a necessary service to employees of NRCS in promoting our federal programs. To acquire the sub-centimeter accuracy, each Trimble survey unit requires 2 receivers (base and rover). Each Trimble receiver costs about $20,000. As a money saving measure, we purchase one receiver for the rover and use a remote base station provided by CSDS for the necessary survey correction. California Surveying and Drafting Services is the only vendor providing the service in the areas that we need.
