Description
This is a Request for Information (RFI) and not a solicitation. The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) has interest the modular radio components to provide access to the COSPAS/SARSAT constellation. It is expected that modular components will be integrated at low cost to enable rapid development, test and integration (PCB layout and software combined at the board level with other designs) for use on multiple platforms. For the purposes of this RFI, platforms may refer to any device such as a handheld radio, vehicle mounted radio, etc. This RFI seeks to identify potential candidates (Printed Circuit Board (PCB) designs) available for a non-exclusive license with full schematics, Bill of Materials, PCB layout files in Altium Designer) and any supporting test peripherals required to include source code and libraries for use in COSPAS-SARSAT testing. The PCBs will be tested as standalone units as well as integrated into new hardware. The units will need to communicate with the Testing to be held around the end of FY20 and beyond. Responders to this RFI should have already demonstrated experience with radio component development, COSPAS/SARSAT testing and certification, and technology demonstrations at or above Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 3.
