Description
This is a combined Synopsis/solicitation for the United States �Department of Agriculture, �Agriculture Re search Service, �prepared in accordance with the format to Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this solicitation. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation, quotes are being requested and a written notice, will not be issued. Solicitation Number �1006500 - is issued as a request for quotation (RFQ). This Solicitation �document �incorporates �provisions and �clauses which are in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 2020-06 dated June 5, 2020.� �This solicitation shall be reserved exclusively for small businesses� with a small business size standard of 1000 employees - referencing North American Industrial Classification Code 334516. �� �SHIP TO ADDRESS � 600 E. Mermaid Lane - �Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania 19038 ��� Please make sure You include (Not to Exceed) Shipping Charges to the address listed directly above � when submitting Your quote. � Minimum requirements � USDA is requesting the purchase of a benchtop X-ray diffractometer. The instrument will be used for the nondestructive structural characterization of solid samples. USDA Will be using the �the XRD to characterize 1) carbonaceous solids and 2) heterogeneous catalysts, before/after reaction (e.g. zeolites). Required salient characteristics/minimum requirements: - ability to scan multiple samples automatically in one operation - fit on a benchtop and be easily transportable - sampling speed range of 0.5 � 15 degrees/minute - sampling width of 0.01 degrees - 2-theta range of at least 10 � 110 degree range - software for automatic determination of XRD peak properties (2-theta, FWHM, d, etc.) and/or structural interpretation� Desired applications: - structural characterization of heterogeneous catalysts; stability, pre and post-reaction; phase structure(s) present - structural characterization of carbonaceous solids (calcined coke, graphite, etc.), determination of degree of crystallinity Our research unit focuses on the development of bio-renewable fuels and valuable chemical coproducts. The equipment obtained would enable the facile determination of both catalyst and coproduct quality. Such results would be used to determine feasibility of biorefinery scale-up procedures.
