Synopsis: Added: July 20, 2020 This Sources Sought announcement is a request for information to be used for preliminary market research information and planning purposes only. This is NOT a solicitation and No proposals are being requested or accepted. No contract will be awarded from this notice. No reimbursement will be made for any costs associated with providing information in response to this notice.� The information collected will be used for market research to define the Government's requirements and create the appropriate acquisition strategy. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Sugarcane Research Unit (SRU), Schriever, La., has a requirement for the reconditioning of a Roller Mill.� USDA ROLLER MILL RECONDITIONING SPECIFICATIONS INTRODUCTION �Work consist of but is not limited to:� �include all Materials, Material Testing, Expendable Items, Labor, Transportation, Engineering, Manufacturing, Machining, Parts, Match Marking and Insurance to perform the total reconditioning of the USDA ROLLER MILL. All manufacturing of new components or repair of existing components will be in accordance with the latest published engineering standards as well as the best engineering practices and using the following guidelines. The expectation of the reconditioned mill is that it be in a like new condition with a life expectancy comparable to that of the original mill. An extraction test will be performed at the completion of the installation where 50% minimum extraction will be the acceptance standard for the Mill Reconditioning Project. DETAILED SCOPE OF WORK 1.����������� Reverse Engineering to determine original construction dimensions, clearances, centers, mill setting and wear of existing components as it relates to the requirements for repair or replacement. (Side to side movement of the mill rolls is to be limited to 0.01562511 in either direction from the centerline of the mill.) 2.����������� All components/parts shall be thoroughly cleaned and inspected to determine if repair is an acceptable option or if replacement must be made. The following components will be replaced without discussion: 1)����������� The three (3) mill rolls shall be replaced in their entirety. 2)���������� The three (3) crown wheels 3}���������� The Turn Plate 4}���������� The Cheek Plates 5}���������� The Dutchmen 6}���������� The feed Chute 3.����������� A complete and definitive repair/replacement procedure shall be submitted to the USDA for approval upon completion of the dismantling, inspection and reverse engineering phases of the project. 4.����������� Inspection It shall be the responsibility of the vendor to visually inspect the Roller Mill at the USDA site, 501 Bull Run Road, Schriever, La. to familiarize themselves with the Roller Mill and the conditions surrounding the equipment. 5.����������� Materials Materials used for the repair of existing components or for the manufacture of new components will be of the same or equal specification and grade as the original construction. Positive Material Identification (PMI} testing or other acceptable methods may be required to determine the existing material specification. A deviation from the original material specification will require approval from the USDA. The responses shall include: 1)����������� Name of Firm, Point of Contact, E-mail address, Mailing Address, Telephone Number, and DUNS number. 2)����������� A detailed description of experience reconditioning this type equipment.
