Description
This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for a commercial item prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6 as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation.Quotes are being requested; a written solicitation will not be issued. Please find attached Combo Synopsis. The following questions and answers are provied for the subject contract opportunity: Q1. Is the end user performing fluorescent magnetic particle inspection and if so do they need an ultraviolet light? Will the end user require a room darkening hood assembly with white light and exhaust fan? Answer: Yes a room darkening hood assembly with white light and exhaust fan would be required Q2. The description requires a pneumatic tail stock. This is not how typical MPI equipment works. Normally only the head stock has the pneumatic function. Typically the tail stock slides on rails, is moved near the head stock then locked into place. At that point a part is placed between the head & tail stocks and the pneumatic head stock is activated thereby clamping the part in place. Please confirm the end user needs the pneumatic feature on tail stock. Answer: Pneumatic tailstock not required. Q3. It is our understanding that Picatinny requires the unit to meet ASTM E1444. Per ASTM E1444 the equipment needs to be calibrated after installation. The OEM calibration does not satisfy the E1444 equipment accuracy requirements stipulated in paragraph 7.4. Please confirm that Picatinny wants the supplier to ensure the unit complies to E1444 after the unit is installed. Answer: Calibration IAW ASTM E1444 is required As a resulf of the questions and answers, the Combo Synopsis (ComboSynopsis_R1) is updated to reflect the changes. ComboSynopsis_R1 shall be used and referenced when submitting proposal/quote for the effort.
