Description
Regulated Medical Waste & Sharps Removal Services A. INTRODUCTION This solicitation is intended to develop a multi-award, Firm Fixed Price IDIQ contract for NCO 5 for Regulated Medical Waste (RMW) disposal, solid waste, and recycling at the VA Medical Centers and CBOCs (Community Based Outpatient Clinic) within VISN 5, the Capitol Healthcare Region. The successful contractors will provide the comprehensive management of these various waste streams ensuring that the waste flow is efficient and does not interfere with the daily operations of the facilities. The goal is to ensure compliance with the RMW and non-hazardous pharmaceutical waste, while maximizing the diversion of waste from the solid waste stream to either recycling or another beneficial reuse. The VA Capitol Health Care Network (VISN 5) was established in October 1995 and serves Veterans from economically and demographically diverse areas within Maryland, the District of Columbia, and West Virginia, plus portions of Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Kentucky. The network includes VA medical centers located in Beckley, Clarksburg, Huntington, and Martinsburg, WV; Baltimore, Loch Raven, and Perry Point, MD; and Washington, D.C. In addition, the network also includes 27 Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) in Braxton County, WV; Cambridge, MD; Charlotte Hall, MD; Charleston, VW; Cumberland, MD; Eastern Baltimore County; Fort Belvoir, VA; Fort Meade, MD; Franklin, WV; Fort Detrick, MD; Gallipolis, OH; Glen Burnie, MD; Hagerstown, MD; Harrisonburg, VA; Lenore, WV; Greenbrier County, WV; Monongalia County, WV; Montgomery County, MD; Pocomoke City, MD; Petersburg, WV; Prestonsburg, KY; Princeton, WV; Stephens City, VA, Suitland, MD; Tucker County, WV; Washington, DC; and Wood County, WV. The VISN 5 facilities generate approximately 1 million pounds of regulated medical waste each year. The contracts resulting from this RFQ could encompasses any VA location with Maryland, Washington DC, and West Virginia for the listed services.
