- This is an emergency procurement for medical nitrile gloves Pre-Solicitation 36C24121Q0086 Notice for VA Boston Healthcare System. This requirement is a Small Business set aside. Due to the emergency nature of this requirement, all quotes must be received by November 18, 2020 at 11:00AM to Portia.Fredua-Agyeman@va.gov. ATTACHED LOS CERTIFICATION & PPE SOURCE QUESTIONNAIRE MUST BE COMPLETED AND RETURNED TO BE CONSIDERED FOR AWARD. Medical grade Exam Gloves: Gloves can be made of vinyl, nitrile, polyvinyl chloride, or polyurethane VA Boston has historically used Nitrile gloves Quality medical grade gloves generally are between 3-4 mils thick; thicker gloves rip less and are more protective against needlestick injuries. Thicker gloves are better No talc or powder inside or out Medical grade gloves should meet ASTM D6319-19 standards Have an ASTM AQL (acceptable quality level) overall rating of less than 2.5 AQL (1.0 is preferred) Test D5151 Water test = 2.5 AQL or lower (1.0 preferred) Test D6124 Residual powder test = max of 2mg per glove for powder free gloves Test D1671 Blood borne Pathogen test = must Pass Nitrile gloves: Test D6319 Medical grade Nitrile = AQL of 2.5, tensile strength of at least 18MPa, and minimum of 500% elongation Vinyl gloves: Test D5250 Medical grade Vinyl = AQL of 2.5, tensile strength of at least 11MPa, and minimum of 300% elongation Reference for standards: http://www.psggear.com/index.php/quality-standards VA Boston is a Latex free facility If necessary in the future, due to supply challenges for gloves, we are including standards for latex gloves. We prefer not to use latex.
