Sources Sought Notice Title � Laminated Bus Bar Market Survey Classification Code: 59 � Electrical and Electronic Equipment Components Purpose The Naval Surface Warfare Center � Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD) is conducting a market survey through this Sources Sought to identify potential suppliers and sources interested in supplying and/or manufacturing custom and commercially available Laminated Bus bars for applications aboard Naval Vessels, including but not limited to propulsion motor drives and static power conversion equipment.� The resulting survey in no way binds the Government to offer contracts to responding companies, and is solely for market research and current/future distribution system considerations.� The information provided will assist NSWCPD in understanding available/non-development Laminated Bus Bar technologies including existing validations/testing practices.� Defense and commercial suppliers/contractors, including small businesses, veteran-owned businesses, service-disabled veteran-owned businesses, HUBZone small businesses, and woman-owned small businesses are encouraged to participate.� However, respondents must be able to demonstrate that they currently produce the above mentioned technologies adherent to the specification ranges detailed for use on Naval Vessels. Responses Responses to this market survey should include supporting materials that discusses your company�s competence, experience, and overall understanding of the requirements that NAVSEA has identified.� The following information is requested (please indicate if the information is an estimate or actual): Describe the process of manufacturing a laminated bus bar. Specify applications where your laminated bus designs are in service in the military or commercial industry. How are layers joined together? What resins/adhesives are generally used? What are their temperature ratings? Are they commonly exothermic or endothermic? What are the approximate maximum and minimum dimensions that you are capable of manufacturing? What power, voltage, current, power factors have you designed for and fielded? Are there maximum values that you would be comfortable supporting utilizing existing materials and processes? Which commercial, military, or government standards are your systems� designed, built and/or tested? What types of quality assurance tests are performed and how are they conducted? What methods are used to ensure no voids exist in the final product? Do you implement any design or manufacturing processes to specifically minimize partial discharge and corona? What design, manufacturing, and testing criteria do you consider to prevent delamination, cracks, or surface tracking that could result in failure. What cooling means are typically employed?� What are the typical and most likely failure mechanisms that occur? What have you done to prevent these failures from occurring in future designs? Describe any other manufacturing/design limitations that are currently faced. Supplier/contractor should identify conformance to widely accepted commercial/industrial specifications, as well as validation and test practices. Included in this notice is NSWCPD�s Draft specification for the construction of Laminated Bus Bars for Naval Shipboard applications. This document has not been approved by NAVSEA. It is being used for the purposes of this sources sought notice to aid in evaluation of laminated bus bar in naval applications and development of future specifications. Please review and provide comments. NSWCPD requests your responses by 12/11/2020.� However, submissions will be accepted after this date, but feedback may not be as timely or contribute to NSWCPD�s strategic planning.� Information should be e-mailed to Randy.Hutchinson2@Navy.Mil or mailed to Naval Surface Warfare Center, Attn: Randy Hutchinson, 1000 Kitty Hawk Ave., Philadelphia, PA �19112 and labeled with the sources sought number and �Laminated Bus Bar Market Survey�.� Questions can be submitted electronically to Randy.Hutchinson2@Navy.Mil.� Information provided will be treated as Business Sensitive and will not be shared outside of Government activities and agencies without the permission of the provider.� All information shall be provided free of charge to the Government.� NSWCPD may request further information regarding the capabilities of respondents to meet the requirements and may request a presentation and/or a site visit as deemed necessary. At no cost to the government, responding vendors may continue technical dialogue with this market survey�s Point of Contact after the initial response is provided. The Government will not release any information marked with a proprietary legend received in response to this RFI to any firms, agencies or individuals outside the Government without written permission in accordance with the legend.
