Description
Pre-solicitation Notice Posting Estimate: Solicitation should be posted on or about March 20, 2020. Project Title: Long Beach VA - Project #600-20-118 Asbestos Abatement Project Type: Construction Project Overview This requirement is for construction services to provide asbestos abatement services and polish and seal the concrete floors. All work shall be conducted at the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Long Beach Healthcare System, 5901 East 7th Street, Long Beach, CA 90822. All work is to be performed in Building 1, rooms B-015 and B-016. This requirement is classified under construction as it calls for the alteration of real property. The Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Long Beach Healthcare System, (Station Code - 600) requires construction services to resolve an asbestos issue in a storage area shared by Logistics Service and Pharmacy Service. The overall footprint of the area is approximately 2,548 square feet. Numerous areas within the room have exposed asbestos that is noticeable due to absent floor tiles. Other areas of the room have battered floor tiles that show signs of exposed asbestos. Per the United States Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, 1926.1101(c)(1), The employer shall ensure that no employee is exposed to an airborne concentration of asbestos in excess of 0.1 fiber per cubic centimeter of air as an eight (8) hour time-weighted average (TWA) .
