- Sensor Upgrade/Repair This is a notice of intent to solicit from a single source. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), intends to award a purchase order to PP Systems, Amesbury, MA for upgrade and repair of fluoroprobe sensors as described in the attached Statement of Work. Award will be made in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13.106-1(b) and the procedures at FAR Part 12 entitled, Acquisition of Commercial Items. PP Systems is, to the USGS� knowledge, the only source who can upgrade and repair the sensors as the equipment is proprietary to the company. The purpose of this notice is to satisfy the requirements of FAR Subpart 5.2. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. However, all responsible parties may submit a quotation by the closing date of this announcement which shall be considered by the agency. No solicitation will be issued. A determination not to compete this action based upon responses received is in the sole discretion of the Government. The NAICS code for this action is 334516, Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing. Responses or inquiries shall only be accepted through electronic mail addressed to dallan-loucks@usgs.gov and must be uploaded and received in their entirety no later than January 15, 2021, 1500ET. Responses submitted by hardcopy shall not be accepted or considered. US Geological Survey California Water Science Center Statement of Work 1.0 INTRODUCTION The U. S. Geological Survey (USGS) requires upgrades and any necessary repairs to four (4) bbe Fluoroprobe instruments purchased by the USGS in March 2020. 2.0 BACKGROUND The USGS California Water Science Center has a project that is funded by the Delta Science Council to deploy fluorometers that measure phytoplankton abundance and phytoplankton taxonomy continuously, in situ, for detection of different phytoplankton species, including harmful algae. 3.0 SCOPE Upgrade three (3) fluorometer sensors from stainless steel to titanium housings, and upgrade one (1) fluorometer sensor from a stainless steel to a titanium housing and any necessary repairs from saline water damage. 4.0 DELIVERABLES Four (4) upgraded fluorometer sensors. Sensors S/N TS26-20, TS26-21, and TS26-22 shall be shipped individually upon completion of each instruments� upgrade, and not held for bulk shipment. Sensor S/N TS26-12 shall not be upgraded and repaired prior to receiving approval from Technical Liaison following contractor�s evaluation and estimate. 5.0 PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE Date of award through April 30, 2021. 6.0 SUPPORTING INFORMATION a) Government Provided Property: Government will ship the four (4) sensors, valued at $160,000.00, to the vendor�s facility for upgrades and repair. b) Place of Performance: Vendor�s facility.
