- The Benicia Arsenal Cemetery is located on Birch Road in Benicia, California. Founded in 1849 on the grounds of the old Benicia Barracks, the cemetery may be the oldest U.S. Military post cemetery in the Pacific states. The cemetery was transferred to the VA-National Cemetery Administration in 2020. It was formerly a post cemetery owned and operated by the United States (U.S.) Army Garrison, Presidio of Monterey. The cemetery is comprised of approximately 1.20 acres of cemetery grounds. It contains the remains of approximately 211 veterans, spouses, children, prisoners of war, and three pets. Benicia Arsenal Cemetery is closed for first interment requests. The last burial in the cemetery occurred in 1958. The Contractor shall provide all supervision, labor, equipment, materials and supplies necessary to provide Interment and Grounds Maintenance Services at Benicia Arsenal Cemetery, hereby known as the Cemetery .
