The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Philadelphia District, intends to award a firm fixed price contract for the contractor to provide herbicide spraying for Northern Area Dams in accordance with Performance Work Statement (PWS). Performance Work Statement Spraying of Herbicide at Prompton, Jadwin, Beltzville and Francis E. Walter Dams, PA Introduction Background. The US Army Corps of Engineers Philadelphia District has 5 multipurpose flood control projects located within the Delaware River Basin. This contract will service 4 of the 5 projects including Beltzville Dam, Lehighton PA, Francis E. Walter Dam, White Haven PA, General Edgar Jadwin Dam, Honesdale PA, and Prompton Dam, Prompton PA. Scope of Work. Every two years, the Northern Area Dams require a contracted herbicide spraying program to effectively control woody vegetation on the sites embankments, groins, abutments, and 15ft beyond all contact points. This helps ensure the integrity of the earth filled structure. This program also serves as a way to control invasive plant species and the spread of unwanted phragmites while aiding to reduce maintenance efforts at each project.
