- Description
- The Office of the Project Manager for Combat Ammunition Systems (PM CAS) desires information pertaining to any existing design, or the design and development of a 155mm Canister Projectile. PM CAS is seeking innovative design concepts that utilize new approaches to current manufacturing processes. The solution should demonstrate improvements to both the Projectile Body as well as the High Explosive (HE) loading and explain how the solution could reduce (or eliminate) dependency on complex operations (e.g. deep draw forges, specialized energetic loading, inspection, etc.). The design should also include, but not limited to, the following: Facilitate enhanced process control, safety, and automation and lay out improvements to existing Industrial Base production processes. Must be capable of carrying HE Payloads with effects similar to the existing 155mm M795. Should also show modularity to support other potential payloads to enhance lethal effects and/or satisfy other requirements (Smoke, Illumination or otherwise) as well as range extending technology (Rockets, Basebleeds, etc.). Information should include the technology and manufacturing readiness level achieved to date. Any response should also include a detailed description of the solution, performance information, all technical details, estimated hardware costs and current manufacturing capability. This Request for Information (RFI) is issued solely for information and planning purposes only and is not a Request for Proposals or Quotes (RFP or RFQ) or an obligation on the part of the United States Government (USG) to acquire any supplies or services. Responses to this RFI are not offers and cannot be accepted by the USG to form a binding contract. The USG reserves the right to determine how it should proceed as a result of this notice. Furthermore, those who respond to this RFI should not anticipate feedback with regard to its submission. All information submitted in response to this announcement is voluntary; the United States Government will not pay for information requested nor will it compensate any respondent for any cost incurred in developing information provided to the USG. All costs associated with responding to this RFI will be solely at the responding party's expense. Not responding to this RFI does not preclude participation in any future RFP/RFQ, if any is issued. Respondents are requested to submit the required information in Microsoft Office or PDF. All information and data received in response to the RFI designated as corporate or proprietary information will be protected as such. Please also provide the company's name, address, and point of contact with telephone number and email address, size of business (Cage code) and team members. Any response to this RFI shall be submitted ELECTRONICALLY ONLY, to Benjamin.l.blalock3.civ@mail.mil and Jennifer.m.hughes56.civ@mail.mil. Please note that telephone inquiries will not be accepted. Closing date of this notice is 15 days from posting.
