Description
The Army Contracting Command - Rock Island (ACC-RI) on behalf of Program Manager, Pine Bluff Arsenal is conducting a Sources Sought/Market Survey for sources interested in the supply and install of an inertia welder. The inertia welder must weld a closure plug to a M825 canister assembly. This inertia welded closure is used to seal the white phosphorous filled canister. The welder will need to be a vertical design that is mounted on the Governments existing welder cabinet and it shall interface with the Governments existing conveyor system. A pallet on the conveyor system will pass through the welding machine with the welding operation being performed directly over the conveyor that is located on the welder cabinet. Previous weld experiments have proven that weld parameters were optimized at 4200 weld rpm and a weld pressure of 800 psi. The target cycle time for this operation is 60 seconds. The control system supplied shall be a standard control system supplied with the welder. The welding sequence is as follows: The pallet will enter the friction welding cabinet on customer supplied conveyor The pallet will be secured in place in the proper location An automatic spindle loader will transfer a Closure Plug into place The automatic welding sequence will begin When the welding sequence is complete, the pallet will be released and the pallet will exit the welding cabinet. The inertia weld will be tested and should not fail when subjected to a push-off force of 17,000 lbs. Additionally, the welded canisters will be placed in an oven at 160 degrees F for 8 hours, in a closure plug down position, for leak testing. It is anticipated this procurement will be solicited under the NAICS code 333992. Interested companies who feel that they have the necessary capabilities should respond by the closing date providing the information requested in the attached survey. A Technical Data Package is currently available for this announcement;the package is restricted and shall be requested via Beta.SAM. All contractors interested in this potential future solicitation must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM). The Attachments for this requirement are the below: Attachment 0001 - Inertia Weld Survey Attachment 0002 - Level Check Weldment Attachment 0003 - Level Check Weldment 2 Attachment 0004 - Level Check Weldment Dimensions 1 Attachment 0005 - Level Check Weldment Dimensions 2 Attachment 0006 - Line 5 Layout - Close up Attachment 0007 - Conveyor Carriage Attachment 0008 - 15-12-271revD (Closure Plug) Attachment 0009 - 15-12-262revL (Rear Plate) This requirement shall be a Firm Fixed Price, contract.
