- Description
- The NEC provides the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of (CJCS) with a cycle of assessments that evaluate the readiness of the NC3 Enterprise. The assessment capability consists of a quality planning, assessing, analysis and reporting cycle that tests, validates, and/or improves the NC3 personnel, procedures, and component systems. NC3OA evaluate NC3 system capabilities to support nuclear decision makers, the JS, and Combatant Commanders in the operational and threat environments expected during nuclear war. They also measure the ability of the entire NC3 community to receive Presidential direction and disseminate that direction to nuclear-capable fielded forces utilizing a redundant, system-of systems enterprise. The scope of these assessments includes the evaluation of survivable and non-survivable communications connectivity and operational information flows for the NC3 tasks of situation monitoring, decision making, force direction and force management. Additionally, these assessments integrate evaluations of personnel performance, communications platforms, systems, networks, and supporting procedures. The work consists of technical engineering support across the span of operational assessment cycles from concept, planning, coordination, and execution through data collection, adjudication of findings, analysis, and reporting. Additionally, the assessment results and data will be maintained in order to conduct trend analysis overtime.
