- Description
- NASA has awarded a contract to General Electric (GE) Aviation to develop composite components and research turbine engine technologies that must survive the extreme pressure and temperature environments of hypersonic flight. The scope of the work includes the design, development, and fabrication of Ceramic Matrix Composites using melt infiltration or chemical vapor infiltration processes. The scope of work also includes research related to hypersonic engine development for turbinebased combined cycle technologies. The cost plus fixed fee indefinite delivery indefinite quantity contract, negotiated on a sole source basis with GE Aviation, was awarded January 29, 2021 and has a maximum potential value of $13 million over a five-year period of performance. This contract is cost plus fixed fee. The contract is for the performance of research and the level of effort required is unknown.
