- Description
- The purpose of this RFI is to survey only relevant institutions of higher learning for desired information. Request for Information for the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (Research & Engineering) to review, assess, and recommend policy options to promote Department of Defense and defense industrial base collaboration in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education activities. Conference report (H. Rept 116-333) of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2020 (Public Law 116-92) calls for a study to review DoD and defense industrial base collaboration in STEM education activities and develop policy options and recommendations to promote further collaboration (see Appendix 1 for the complete language).� To this end, the study shall evaluate: Any existing or proposed DoD-industry collaborative STEM educational opportunities targeting all populations of learners, but particularly for veterans and military dependents; Identification of any existing or proposed DoD-industry collaborative opportunities to better position the current and next-generation workforce for defense-specific technical fields and STEM occupations (see supplemental materials for potential fields and occupations to consider); and Policy options to promote robust, sustainable DoD-industry partnerships that can support future workforce needs.
