Description
Page 2. Statement of Work (SOW) Censis Baltimore Reference #: 512-21-1-198-0004 Overview: Tracking enhances the ability of VA to ensure patient and staff safety by providing reasonable assurance that instruments have been processed in accordance with regulatory guidelines and individual instrument manufacturer s Instructions for Use (IFU) for reusable medical equipment (RME) and dental/medical-surgical instrumentation. Objective Sterile Processing Service requires sterile and disinfected medical instruments and equipment. Many heat-intolerant and non-immersible medical devices must be hand washed, however, there are no options for disinfecting them after washing. They are passed through to the Preparation room washed, but not disinfected. Staff must use hand hygiene and disinfecting their workstations to compensate. Section 1: SCOPE The UVC disinfector safely and quickly disinfects hand-washed items at the transfer window between the Decontamination Area and the Prep Room. Studies have demonstrated that manually cleaned devices have a higher bacterial colony-forming units (CFU) count than the machine-washed items. The unit s UVC light radiation significantly reduces bacterial CFU counts, thereby improving the safety of handling these instruments. The unit uses no harmful chemicals, consumables, or antimicrobial wipes, and offers a standardized, repeatable decontamination process that helps eliminate human error and make instruments safer to handle. The VA has identified two units which would meet our specifications. While the VA has identified these two units, contractors are welcome to propose any units which fall within the range of the two described here. This is considered a name brand or equal. The first identified unit is the ClorDiSys Flashbox UV-C Disinfection Chamber and their specs are: Usable Space: 14 H x 21.25 D x 21.25 W; Overall Dimensions: 25.75 H x 24 D x 24 W; Power: 115 VAC, 60 HZ, 3 Amps; UV-C Output: 60 mJ/cm2 per minute (1000 W/cm2) of UV intensity. The second identified unit is the Light Progress USA UV-Box-E3 and the specs are: Internal Dimensions: 23.6 H x 19.7 L x 12.2 P; Exterior Dimensions: 29.5 H x 21.7 L x 13.8 P; Total Consumption: 120 W; Light Progress 253.7 nm UV-C high output lamp. Section 3: 3.1 REQUIREMENTS 3.2 Security The C&A Requirements do not apply to this procurement; thus, a Security Accreditation Package is not required.
