Description
TECHNOLOGY LICENSING OPPORTUNITY Mass Measurement of Suspended Solids Opportunity: Idaho National Laboratory (INL), managed and operated by Battelle Energy Alliance, LLC (BEA), is offering the opportunity to enter into a license and/or collaborative research agreement to commercialize this mass measurement of suspended solids technology. Overview: Liquid fluidized bed with a two phase mixture is the focus of this invention. This device offers a method of monitoring on a batch or continuous process the contents of material suspended in solution or slurry. A few examples of the market follow: 1) Frequently carbon or resin is used in a fluidized bed to absorb impurities, or precious metals. In operations, these absorption materials are periodically removed and replaced. It is important to monitor the amount of carbon or resin present. This instrument monitors this mass. 2) In accountability tanks in metal processing (gold, uranium, etc.) frequently a sludge may build up in a tank. With an agitator, these fine particles of metal can be suspended in a slurry and measured. Thus, the ""hold up"" inventory of fine particles may be determined. 3) In agitated dissolving tanks, solids such as lime, flue dust, or salts are added to a liquor to be dissolved. This device can monitor the extent of the dissolution of the solids on a batch or continuous process. Benefits: Low cost Applications: Wastewater treatment Mineral processing Material accounting Development Status: TRL 2. This technology has been conceptualized and needs further testing. IP Status: Patent Application No. 63/129,844, Mass Measurement of Suspended Solids, BEA Docket No. BA-1189. INL is seeking to license the above intellectual property to a company with a demonstrated ability to bring such inventions to the market. Exclusive rights in defined fields of use may be available. Please visit Technology Deployments website at https://inl.gov/inl-initiatives/technology-deployment for more information on working with INL and the industrial partnering and technology transfer process. Companies interested in learning more about this licensing opportunity should contact Andrew Rankin at td@inl.gov.
