- Request for Quotations: This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. USDA - ARS - USMARC is seeking quotations for a DNA Fragmentor with accessories for use in ongoing research. Specifications: Device for the fragmentation of DNA - Quantity of 1 Accessory Kit (Pre-assembled syringes and hydropores + hydrotube (5- >100 kb) for 16 samples) - Quantity of 1 1- The Device must consists of an automated motor controlling simultaneously 8 disposable consumables (syringes and hydropores) and an integrated power supply. - Shearing performance is independent of the source, concentration, temperature, or salt content of a DNA sample - Minimum of 8 hydropore shearing devices must be available for use, each able to produce narrow distributions of DNA fragments with the majority of molecules lyingaround the target size - The shearing consumables must including disposable syringes, hydropores, hydrotubes and adaptors will be inserted into a removable cassette regardless the cassetteis installed or not on the instrument - The length of the resulting fragments is dependent mainly on the fluid flow rate 2- Operating procedure - User-friendly software must allow for up to 8 samples to be processed in parallel without additional user input and without cross-contamination - Software must requires minimal parameters: eg: the concentration and the volume of samples, and the speed of the motor that will determine the fragment fragment sizes 3- Device must have high shearing efficiency and highly reproducible results - Device must allow for the fragmentation of DNA in the range of 5 kb - >100 kb - DNA molecules must reach a minimum and uniform length - Special protocols (for low volumes + high concentration) - Device must be designed to process sample volumes between 65 ul and 500 ul with a concentration range between 0 and 150 ng/l This purchase is subject to the availability of funds.
