Description
AMENDMENT #1: This amendment will extend the offer date to 03 FEB 2021 @ 1400 EST. In addition, this amendment addresses the below inquires with the provided responses: 1. QTY 24 Cables, is this TOTAL or 24 PER NODE? Answer: Requirement is for a 2 cables per node or 24 TOTAL. These cables include both 24 power cables C13/14 .6m and 24 networking cables 10Gb SFP+ Copper Twinax direct attach 3m. 2. DVD-ROM INTERNAL, can this be EXTERNAL, as most NON-DELL Solutions offer more hot-swap drive space instead of supporting an internal DVD? Answer: An Internal DVD drive is a requirement as it is a preventive measure against accidental removal/lost. Internal DVD is a requirement as outlined. 3. USB 3.0 Port on the FRONT, is it acceptable if USB 3.0 Port(s) are ONLY on the REAR of the Chassis? Answer: In specific circumstances we require the ability to connect high speed devices to both the front and rear of the unit. The server location is a rack that is in a very tight space with limited rear access and that makes it extremely difficult for rear entry/access. Front ports are a requirement as outlined. 4. VGA Port on the FRONT, is it acceptable if the VGA Port is ONLY on the REAR of the Chassis? Answer: : In specific circumstances we require the ability to connect to the front and rear of the unit. The server location is a rack that is in a very tight space with limited rear access and that makes it extremely difficult for rear entry/access. Front VGA ports are a requirement as outlined. 5. Standard VGA Resolution for servers/nodes is 1024x768, is this acceptable (You have requested 1920x1200)? Answer: A VGA resolution of 1920x1200 is not unreasonable these days for a server/node. Workstations and desktops are using resolutions that are far greater than that. Most are to the tune of 3840x1080 or more 6. 8GB NV Cache for RAID Controllers is a DELL Spec, and is not required for this configuration. Will you consider either 2GB or 4GB NV/FB Cache as Sufficient? Answer: I am unaware the 8GB of NV Cache is a Dell Spec. Our requirement is for maximum NV Cache as our simulation will be running at extremely high speeds and data aggregation. The plan will be to test and add a 2nd NVIDIA card to see if we can improve our performance and runtimes. 7. 3x PCIe 3.0 x16 slots in a standard compute node is not typical, as most systems include 1x or 2x PCIe 3.0 x16 slots with multiple PCIe 3.0 x8 slots (typically 4 or more) in a 2U Form Factor. Since you are only requiring a SINGLE V100S GPU per node, will you reduce this requirement to 1x PCIe 3.0 x16 to support the V100S? Answer: No. As noted above the goal will be to add an additional GPU to decrease run times and increase performance 8. Mixed memory is NOT Supported in most servers/nodes (other than support for specific configurations of NVDIMM or DCPMM in specific slots). Since you are FULLY POPULATING each node with 1.5TB (64GB x 24), and there is no additional room for expansion, will you REMOVE this requirement? Answer: Current memory requirements are for 1.5Tb. The system must be able to support up to 3TB for growth as noted per the requirement. 9. Support for 8x NVMe Drives (which are UNPOPULATED in your configuration) will require installation of NVMe PCIe Adapters which will utilize PCIe slots that would otherwise be left open for future potential use. Will you REMOVE this requirement as UNNECESSARY, or reduce the requirement to support for up to 4x NVMe Drives, which is more typical? Answer: The requirement is for support 8 2.5 hard drives or 8 NVMe drives. Please, see attached solicitation for details.
