Description
1. The SUBCONTRACTOR, shall provide one (1) Radioisotope Hood to be fabricated of type 304 stainless steel with a welded one-piece interior work chamber, which is to be welded to a stainless-steel plate floor including a steel skid base. Tolerances unless specified below shall be in accordance with the ANSI (American National Standards Institute.) 2. A preliminary design shall be delivered to CONTRACTOR for review and approval. A final design in the form of a CAD model in Solidworks, IGES or STEP format shall be submitted to the CONTRACTOR for final approval before manufacturing begins. 3. Fume hood interior dimensions should be 12 ft wide by 9 ft deep and 9 ft tall. 4. Fume hood interior liner shall be fabricated of 14 ga type 304 stainless steel with #4 satin polished finish. Rear corners to be coved (rounded) for easy cleaning. Stainless steel posts, 2"" x 2"", are to be welded around the perimeter of the fume chamber liner, or equivalent, to provide structural support. A post would be located on each corner with (1) post in the middle on the sides and (2) posts between the two rear corner posts, or equivalent as necessary for structural integrity. 5. Welds shall conform to the requirements of the appropriate American Welding Standard (AWS) standard with the recommended standard to be approved by the CONTRACTOR. 6. Type 304 16 ga stainless steel panels with #4 satin finish shall screw onto the 2"" x 2"" tube posts to finish the exterior, with rubber gaskets between the panels to help provide weather protection. 7. The ceiling shall be welded one piece to the interior fume chamber reinforced with two 2 x 2"" ceiling joists. The ceiling should be approximately 9 ft above the hood floor surface. 8. The entire fume hood shall be built to be movable so that it can be moved by forklift to facilitate use at other locations later. The stainless plate floor surface shall be welded to a carbon steel skid, primed only, that can be lifted by an appropriate forklift from the door side of the hood. The forklift tine spacing shall be determined by the fume hood weight and dimensions. Four (4) base brackets are to be welded to the skid for anchoring the skid/hood to any pad. The bottom of the fume hood should be no more than approximately 4 above the top of the skid. 9. The floor of the fume hood shall be built to withstand a load of 120 lbs per square foot with a tolerance of -0/+10% evenly distributed over the entire floor, and have a thickness of at least 0.25 #4 polished stainless-steel plate that is welded in one piece to the bottom of the fume chamber. 10. A calculation showing that the design meets this floor loading shall be provided to CONTRACTOR as part of the preliminary design. The floor shall have holes in it arranged in a grid pattern with countersunk screw threads to facilitate anchors that can be screwed into the floor to hold a 3000 lb load in place. Twelve (12) anchors shall be provided to mount into the floor; exact locations are to be determined. The methodology of securing the mounting brackets described here shall not compromise the sealed nature of the radiological hood interior. 11. The ceiling shall have appropriate exhaust ducting to connect to the blower. 12. Lighting shall be vapor tight LED fixtures mounted to a stainless-steel reflector. Work area illumination to meet the requirements of 10 Foot-Candles per 29 CFR 1926.56. 13. The front of the hood shall have a horizontal slide door assembly that features a triple track arrangement with (2) stainless steel framed 3/8"" tempered glass door panels on each track. Door panels shall be overhead suspended and feature trolleys that roll smooth in the track. Air bypass slots shall be located at the base of each door panel for air to enter the fume chamber when all of the doors are closed. 14. The interior rear wall shall have a slotted stainless-steel baffle system installed to maintain uniform airflow through the hood. 15. The system shall have a face velocity at all points of the plane of the door of 150 linear feet/min 10% with two doors open. A calculation shall be provided to CONTRACTOR as part of the CAD design that shows that this face velocity can be achieved with the design. 16. System shall include an exhaust blower, damper, belt drive, backward incline, stainless steel housing and wheel, and have sufficient horsepower to achieve the face velocity quoted in #15. The blower should be rated 120/240V. The blower horsepower should be selected based on the following assumptions about the stack: a. Stack (discharge) velocity at 3,000 linear fpm (or 15.24 m/s) b. Stack height from ground level at 23 ft (approximate) c. Stack shape shall be a straight cylinder with a diameter of 8 (approximate) 17. A calculation shall be provided to CONTRACTOR as part of the CAD design that shows that the blower horsepower selection is sufficient. 18. Two stainless steel lines with VCR connections shall be built into the fume hood exhaust after the blower to enable discharges directly into the stack. 19. The system shall have an identical redundant blower that can be manually operated by one pre-wired 120V 20A switch located on the left-hand side of the doors, while the primary blower is operated by an identical switch located on the right-hand side of the doors. 20. The system shall have two prewired 120V, 20A duplex receptacles mounted on the left and on the right-hand side of the doors on the fume hood frame. The receptacle shall be of type that accepts both 15A and 20A male plugs. 21. The fume hood shall have two service entrance panels, mounted on the side or rear with all circuits terminated and installed in accordance with NEC-2017. One panel shall accept 240V service and one panel shall accept 110V service. The panels shall have a meltric receptacle and a 50 ft long SO UL listed cable with a meltric connector shall be provided to connect to a CONTRACTOR power sources. 22. The system shall have an airflow monitor (bio-safety cabinet style) designed to measure the airflow velocity in the duct above the hood once the outlets from the hood have been manifolded into one duct to the blower. Because of the airflow volume and the multitude of door opening positions, a more accurate flow rate can be monitored in the duct than through the side wall of the hood. CONTRACTOR will provide a list of acceptable air flow monitors from which the fume hood supplier can choose. 23. The system shall have a three (3) 3 penetrations that can be capped located on the wall on the left and on the wall on the right of the hood.
