Description
The Program Manager Infantry Combat Equipment (PM ICE), Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) is seeking industry input to identify potential sources, and best practice information regarding industry manufacturing capabilities for a new government owned design USMC Trigger Finger Mitten System (shell & liner). This system will replace the USMC Extreme Cold Weather Mitten Shell & Liner currently in the system. The mitten shell and liner are designed to be worn together in extreme cold weather environments when enhanced dexterity is needed as compared to a full mitten shell. The trigger finger design shall enable the wearer to move their first finger independently from the rest of the hand, but if needed move their first finger into the larger finger compartment to warm up as needed. The mitten shell shall be constructed from a waterproof laminate with a water repellent leather palm. The suede side of the leather shall be used to construct a nose wipe on the back of the thumb. The shell shall be insulated and seam sealed to provide full waterproofing. The mitten shell shall have an elasticized inner wrist and an adjustable strap at the back of the wrist to provide a close fit, with a long gauntlet that shall extend up the forearm with a manual adjustment feature at the end of the cuff to provide desired closure over various clothing layers. An adjustable lanyard shall be attached to the hem; adjustment shall be operational with one hand. The outside of the shell shall have a feature at the side seam that enables the mittens to be clipped together as a pair when not in use. The liner shall fit easily into the shell, and the trigger finger shall be constructed from leather to provide good dexterity. The liner shall provide insulation, water resistance, and have a cuff to allow for a snug fit around the wrist. The shell and liner shall be coyote 498 shade, launderable and available in sizes SM, MED, LRG, and X-LRG. See Attachments for drawings and additional material, component, and design information.
