- Description
- Supply and install all associated equipment compliant with good practice, and the stricter of extant UK and US regulations. The contractor shall furnish all labour, materials, equipment, transportation and other such facilities as required to fulfil the work required and to provide a complete and useable facility. Where the contractor is responsible for replacing or upgrading existing system components, all items selected for this purpose must be of the equivalent quality and reliability standards to those being replaced. Justification, based on this requirement, is to be provided by the contractor where alternative components to those currently being used are proposed. The following principal features are expressed in general terms and in no way shall limit the responsibility of the contractor in performing all works indicated. Work to be accomplished. The Contractor shall provide and install an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) Level 1, Type O or U system, in compliance with NFPA 1221 and NFPA 111 within building B318 at RAF Molesworth. The contractor is to take fully into account the requirements specified in the following paragraphs below. The UPS is to be sized and installed to power all essential equipment and systems in the following locations: Emergency Control Center (ECC) equipment in room 1016. All IS, Network and Communication server equipment located in room 1015. Emergency Operations Team equipment in room 1024. The A/C system located in room 1015 (Server room). All other A/C systems within the building are out of scope. All lighting within the building. The UPS is to be installed within the office located in the rear of room 1016 next to the two power distribution boards. In the event that primary power is lost, the UPS shall provide instantaneous and continuous power to all equipment and systems listed above until such time as the back-up generator takes over, or when primary power is restored. This is to compensate for the time taken for the back-up generator to power up and be functionally available to take over as the main power source to the building. In the event that both the primary mains supply and the back-up generator fail, then the UPS is required to power all essential equipment and systems for up to 30 minutes to enable the transfer of Operations to the Alternative ECC (B490 at RAF Alconbury) to take place, or until such time as the primary or secondary power sources are made available again. The UPS shall be provided with a bypass switch that maintains power connection during switchover and is capable of isolating all UPS components whilst allowing power to flow from the source to the load. UPS conditions relating to source power failure, overvoltage, under voltage, high & low battery voltage and UPS in bypass mode shall be annunciated in the ECC room. The UPS battery charging system must, as a minimum, be configured to minimize charging during generator operations. However, ideally the UPS battery charging system shall be disabled during generator operations.
