- Please note that this is not a request for proposal nor a request for quote as there is no solicitation document available. Therefore, this is a notice of intent issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs to negotiate a limited source contract with Melling LLC DBA Melling Medical (078774013) for Lumenis Digital Duet Laser equipment. This procurement is intended to be used in treatment for treating Glaucoma and Cataracts in patients. This specific machine allows the doctor to precisely direct a laser through the machine and at the exact point the doctor is looking at. Furthermore, the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital current machine is broken and not repairable. This has lead to an urgent requirement as the hospital has lost its ability to complete this procedure and patient appointments are being cancelled. This is a severe impact on patient care. The proposed action is IAW FAR 13.106-1(b) Single Source Awards. Information received in response to this special notice will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The determination to not compete the proposed acquisition is wholly within the discretion of the Government. The Government will not be responsible for paying on any costs incurred and/or associated with the development of any responses submitted to this notice. The North American Industry Classification System Code (NAICS) is 339115 (Ophthalmic Goods Manufacturing).
