- Please note that this is not a request for proposal nor a request for quote as there is no solicitation document available. Therefore, this is a notice of intent issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs to negotiate a limited source contract with ARJO, Inc. for four (4) Ceiling lifts for the Jesse Brown VAMC. The Arjo Maxi Sky ceiling lifts are the only brand of ceiling lifts that have been installed throughout the entire Jesse Brown medical facility. The hospital also maintains the appropriate accessories which includes all the corresponding slings, batteries, and other accessories that are utilized when performing patient care tasks such as lifting, repositioning, and transfer of patients. It has been identified that there is a serious risk of injury to Patient and Staff alike as the required equipment is unavailable when performing functional tasks such as treadmill walking & Transfer training. The Clinic is having to use these rooms due to limited Clinic space and the need to follow Covid 19 precautions. Arjo Inc. has quoted this requirement already and has a history with the facility as they have installed similar lifts throughout the facility. Any delay in the acquisition would lead to further safety risks for patients & staff alike. The proposed action is IAW FAR 13.106-1(b) Single Source Awards. Information received in response to this special notice will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The determination to not compete the proposed acquisition is wholly within the discretion of the Government. The Government will not be responsible for paying on any costs incurred and/or associated with the development of any responses submitted to this notice. The North American Industry Classification System Code (NAICS) is 339113 (Surgical Appliance and Supplies Manufacturing).
