- Description
- NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase contract to The Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association to (1) develop a system to collect data on ALS; and (2) establish a national registry for the collection and storage of ALS data. The purpose of this contract is to promote the National ALS Registry through contractors nationwide network of ALS clinics, centers, and local chapters. To promote the National ALS Registry by providing continuous outreach, education, awareness (e.g., facilitate ALS patient computer access to the National ALS Registry web portal; provide educational materials; use social media, etc.) to PALS, their families, caregivers, and researchers. The uncertainty in the incidence and prevalence of ALS, as well as the lack of knowledge about the etiology of the disease, has created a need for structured data collection. The ALS Registry Act (H.R. 2295), passed in October 2008, amends the Public Health Service Act to require the Secretary of DHHS, acting through the Director of CDC, to (1) develop a system to collect data on ALS; and (2) establish a national registry for the collection and storage of ALS data. This contract action is for services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, all responses received within fifteen (15) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Any quotation/response should be emailed to contract specialist at qty7@cdc.gov by 12:00 pm on April 3, 2021.
