Description
This is a pre-solicitation notice, sloicitation documents will be posted to this site on or about April 5, 2021. The magnatude of this project is between $300,000 and $500,000. General Project Information: The Forest Road (FR) 131-4.85 over Unnamed Tributary to East Branch Millstone Creek project is located at latitude 41.43297, longitude 79.02084 in Elk County, Pennsylvania. The existing bridge is a 22 foot (clear) two span steel stringer bridge with concrete deck and abutments. The project includes the removal of the existing bridge and replacing it with a 28 foot (clear) single span timber panel-lam deck bridge with timber pile foundations. The existing bridge (FR131-4.85 over Unnamed Tributary to East Branch Millstone Creek) has structural and stability issues and requires replacement. Erosion from flood events along the East Branch Millstone Creek has caused erosion and collapsed the channel near the mouth of the Unnamed Tributary. It is proposed to replacethe bridge with a new structure. For ease of installation, and to provide increased scour protection, the new bridge is proposed to be a 30' long, 18' wide single lane bridge. The structure will be a timber laminated deck with timber pile abutments. The new superstructure will be raised slightly to accommodate a 25mph speed. The existing eroded stream channel will be rebuilt to match the rock lined pools upstream of the bridge. Additional boulders will be placed along the bank of the East Branch Millstone Creek to provide erosionprotection and protect the bridge. Finally, riprap will be added along the banks of the abutment for scour protection.
