- DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS NETWORK CONTRACTING OFFICE (NCO) 16 MICHAEL E. DEBAKEY VA MEDICAL CENTER (VAMC), HOUSTON, TEXAS REQUEST FOR INFORMATION 36C25621Q0599 Laundry Vertical Carrousel 1. PROJECT DATA: TITLE: Purchase and Install Three (3) Vertical Carousels BUILDING/FACILITY: Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center, LOS/EMS 2. GENERAL SCOPE: The Contractor shall provide all supervision, labor, materials and equipment to purchase and install one (3) Vertical Carousels to support this requirement. The contractor shall install the Carousel system at Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center. The end user is responsible for providing electrical power to the unit. 3. DETAILED REQUIREMENTS (Vertical Carousels): Vertical Carousel must be of Ergonomic Design All Vertical Carousels must be Clip System panel concept for fast assemble/disassemble and for maintenance purposes allowing for high operator security if stored goods fall inside the unit. All Vertical Carousels shall come with a lifetime warranty of the motor to assure years of reliable usage. All other components carry a 2-year warranty, including transportation, parts and labor. Vertical Carousels shall come equipped with a manual Emergency Power Crank for access to parts in case of power failure Vertical Carousels shall come equipped with a multifunctional profile allowing flexible fitment and positioning of operator panel, lighting and accessories above access opening. Vertical Carousels shall come equipped with a stainless-steel table surface at a standing position. Vertical Carousel shall have an imbalance indicator located on the operator station display that will alert the operator to any imbalance load. Vertical Carousels shall come equipped with a lockable lightweight one-piece sliding door. Self-counterbalanced sliding door can be opened and closed with minimal effort. Two-piece sliding doors without counterbalance are not acceptable. Vertical Carousels must have 100% Reliable Safety Security System Vertical Carousels shall come equipped with finger protection safety buffer at rear of posting board. Vertical carousel must include a Transaction Indicator Center used to display information directly between access opening at the worktable. Vertical carousel must include a confirmation button used to confirm a process. Vertical Carousels must come with transport rollers for fast and easy repositioning in the case of internal moves, providing maximum flexibility for unit positioning with minimum downtime and reinstallation costs. Vertical Carousels must have standard manual override systems allowing for the unit to be used until service technician s repair. Vertical Carousels must have a standard manual override that can be operated with the door open, so parts can be located using drive and view , without having to know what carrier the part is stored on. The contactor must ensure the equipment complies with DIN EN 15095 Power-operated mobile racking and shelving, carousels and storage lifts and has been tested and certified by TÜV (Technical Observation & Control), a USA NRTL and a Canadian CB. The manufacture must be certified ISO 9001. The manufacture must be certified ISO 14001. Feature Vertical Carousels must be of Ergonomic Design Vertical Carousels must have minimum carrier weight capacity of 397 lbs. Life-Time Warranty on Motor Vertical Carousels must come equipped with manual Emergency Power Crank for access to parts in case of power outages Vertical Carousel must have an imbalance indicator that will alert the operator to any imbalanced load Vertical Carousel shall come with a lockable, one-piece light weight safety access door Vertical Carousels must come equipped with a standard override allowing the unit to be operated with door open so parts can be located using a drive and view method in case of unit malfunctions. Vertical Carousel must come with an automatic chain tension system allowing for automatic chain tensioning for both the drive chain and transport chain which ensures reliability and long life and saves energy costs when unit is not under full loaded. This is especially important as the weight of the materials being stored can vary. Automatic chain tensioning eliminates manual adjustments which are costly and time consuming. REQUESTED RESPONSES: The intent of this Request for Information is to establish sources to define the procurement strategy (e.g. set-aside, sole source, unrestricted) for a solicitation that VA intends to post in the near future. Please respond to this RFI if you can provide supplies that can be determined EQUIVALENT to the products listed in the table in the background section above. Please provide details on the proposed EQUIVALENT products such as Manufacturer Name, Part Number, and Description. If you have an existing GSA or VA, Federal Supply Schedule contract, please include the contract details in your response. Please note that VA is particularly interested in determining the availability of Small Business Manufacturers.
