Description
The work includes, but is not limited to: 1.1 Basic Package: a. Demolish existing underground pipe, manholes, valves, valve boxes, backflow preventers, water meters, fire hydrants, air relief valves and other existing elements and accessories, as indicated in the drawings. Those pipe sections that are no longer part of the potable water distribution system shall be capped. b. Furnish and install underground pipe, valves, valve boxes, T connections, backflow preventers, water flow meters, fire hydrants, and related elements and accessories, as indicated in the drawings. c. Paint new barrel type hydrants, including hydrant number. Install bollards around the new barrel type fire hydrants. Install bollards around the existing barrel type fire hydrants to remain. Disassemble the existing 4 quick connectors in the barrel type hydrants to demolish and reinstall them in the new barrel type fire hydrants. Furnish and install similar 4 quick connectors for the new hydrants, if necessary. Perform flow test in each hydrant (said tests will be performed by the Government, but the Contractor will be present during the test performance). Perform directional boring for the passage of new water piping below pavements, as indicated on the drawings. The drill opening will be protected by high density PN10 polyethylene jacket with an interior diameter big enough to easily introduce the new pipe including its electro-welded fittings. Repair leak #1: Replace PVC DN200 pipe with PE100 PN10 DN200 high density polyethylene pipe from the exterior of the manhole to the existing gate valve. Repair leak #2: Replace PVC DN200 pipe with PE100 PN10 DN200 high density polyethylene pipe, replace PVC T with 200x200x160 electro-welded polyethylene T, replace existing lateral pipe with high density polyethylene pipe PE100 PN10 DN160, replace gate valve, valve box and above ground barrel type hydrant. Install 4 quick connection at the new hydrant. The gate valve and valve box for hydrant shall be furnished by the Government and installed by the Contractor. Repair leak #3: Replace PVC DN200 pipe with PE100 PN10 DN200 high density polyethylene pipe from the exterior of the manhole to the existing gate valve. Repair leak #4: Replace PVC DN200 pipe with PE100 PN10 DN200 high density polyethylene pipe, replace PVC T with 200x200x160 electro-welded polyethylene T, replace existing lateral pipe with high density polyethylene pipe PE100 PN10 DN160, replace gate valve, valve box and above ground barrel type hydrant. Install 4 quick connection at the new hydrant. The gate valve and valve box for hydrant shall be furnished by the Government and installed by the Contractor. Repair leak #5: Demolish PVC DN200 main pipe section, T, manhole, lateral pipe to the backflow preventer and water meter. Install main PE100 PN10 DN200 high density polyethylene pipe, electro-welded polyethylene T, service line to the backflow preventer, gate valve, valve box and water meter. Reinstall above ground gate valve and strainer. Repair leak #6: Demolish 10 backflow preventer, water meter and accessories and install PE100 PN10 DN250 high density polyethylene pipe section. Demolish PE DN250 pipe section and install PE100 PN10 DN160 high density polyethylene pipe, 6 galvanized steel pipe, 6 backflow preventer, gate valves, water meter and accessories. Repair leak #7: Uncover 1 galvanized steel pipe and replace with new PE100 PN10 DN50 high density polyethylene. Repair leak #8: Replace PVC DN200 pipe with PE100 PN10 DN200 high density polyethylene pipe from the exterior of the manhole to the existing gate valve. Repair leak #9: Demolish PVC DN250 main pipe section, vertical pipe, air relief valve (to be relocated) and hammer arrestor. Install main PE100 PN10 DN250 high density polyethylene, polyethylene T with vertical outlet, DN110 polyethylene vertical pipe and relocate existing air relief valve. Repair leak #10: Demolish PVC DN200 main pipe section, vertical pipe and air relief valve (to be relocated). Install main PE100 PN10 DN200 high density polyethylene, polyethylene T with vertical outlet, DN110 polyethylene vertical pipe and relocate existing air relief valve. Repair leak #11: Replace PVC DN200 pipe with PE100 PN10 DN200 high density polyethylene pipe, replace PVC T with 200x200x160 electro-welded polyethylene T, replace existing lateral pipe with high density polyethylene pipe PE100 PN10 DN160, replace gate valve, valve box and above ground barrel type hydrant. Install 4 quick connection at the new hydrant. The gate valve and valve box for hydrant shall be furnished by the Government and installed by the Contractor. Repair leak #12: Demolish PVC DN200 main pipe section, T, lateral pipe, valve and valve box. Install main PE100 PN10 DN200 high density polyethylene, T, DN110 polyethylene lateral pipe, valve and valve box. Repair leak #13: Replace PVC DN200 pipe section with PE100 PN10 DN200 high density polyethylene pipe. Repair leak #14: Replace PVC DN200 pipe with PE100 PN10 DN200 high density polyethylene pipe, replace PVC T with 200x200x160 electro-welded polyethylene T, replace existing lateral pipe with high density polyethylene pipe PE100 PN10 DN160 to the gate valve. Gate valve, valve box and flush type fire hydrant are to remain. Repair elements affected by project execution (pavement, topsoil, vegetation, sidewalks, etc.). The finish will be similar to the adjacent finish. Perform a leak detection survey to include the new water system installed, as well as the existing pipes that are fed from the new system and supply water to the buildings located inside the areas shown on the drawings as Zones A, B, C, D, E and F. GPS topographic study. General cleaning of the work site. Delivery of As-Built drawings. 1.2 Additive item: In case of finding underground obstructions during the pipe excavation, said obstructions shall be demolished and the excavation restored. In order to account for this potential fact an additive item computation has been considered in the project to include the following specific items Demolish underground concrete block (3 meters deep, 2x2x2 meters) and restore terrain: account for 20 units. Supply/install high density polyethylene pipe DN200 mm: account for 150 linear meters. Supply/install new underground 8 gate valve and valve box: account for 8 units. Supply/install new barrel type fire hydrant from main pipe to include T, pipe, gate valve, valve box and accessories. Valve and valve box to be furnished by the Government (GFM): account for 2 units. Road crossing (15 meters long): account for 10 units.
