- Page 2 of 2 36C24221Q0666 SPECIAL NOTICE NOTICE OF INTEND TO SOLE SOURCE FARKAS ILLUMINA BUFFALO VAMC The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office NC02 in conjunction with the Buffalo VA Medical Center, 3495 Bailey Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14215, Research and Development Department intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1(a)(2), Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. The NAICS code is 334516 with a small business size standard of 1,000 employees. The VA intends to solicit and negotiate with Illumina, Inc., 5200 Illumina Way, San Diego CA 92122-4616 for kitted reagents for PE cluster generation using cBot - supports HiSeq 3000/4000 platforms. This contract will be a Firm Fixed Price sole source. We seek to purchase next generation sequencing reagents, and associated supplies, to support our VA BLR&D research project, BX004695-01A1. The goal of this project is to understand the genetic, epigenetic, and transcriptome changes that occur during differentiation of induced pluripotent stem cells to retinal pigment epithelium cells. Towards this goal, we are using next generation sequencing as a high-throughput means to identify the changes, or lack thereof, that take place during the reprogramming and differentiation process. To do this task, we will need to perform RNA and DNA sequencing of samples generated in the Farkas lab. The reagents and supplies, as requested, are essential to performing these tasks. Other persons may identify their interest by responding to this requirement by Monday, April 5, 2021 at 10 am EDT. Such capabilities information will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. All information shall be furnished at no cost or obligation to the Government. A determination by the Government not to open the requirement to competition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
