Description
Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE Solicitation Number: 75N95021Q00151 Title: Automated, Computer-interfaced Automated Storage / Retrieval System for NCATS Classification Code: 7125 NAICS Code: 337215 - Showcase, Partition, Shelving, and Locker Manufacturing Dollars or Number of Employees: 500 employees Description: Installation of a Kardex Shuttle XP Vertical Lift, Aurora High Density Mobile Shelving, and a software suite to control both plus interface with an existing Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) Background: High density, vertical storage for 4 mL glass vials (Kardex system) as well as mobile shelving (Aurora) tracked within one software package and computer database that can interface with our existing Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). The Kardex will enable the storage of hundreds of thousands of glass vials with a computer interface. The mobile shelving will allow for lab consumables to be stored and tracked through a similar computer interface. Both of these will improve the performance of the Compound Management group by ensuring we can quickly locate compounds and do not run out of supplies. Purpose and Objectives: NCATS Compound Management has an extensive collection of hundreds of thousands of glass vials, each containing unique chemical compounds with druglike properties that are important in our numerous screening campaigns. These screening campaigns utilize the contents of these glass vials plus common laboratory consumables such as plastic tubes, microplates, labels, seals, reagents, and numerous other items. Each screening campaign is highly variable in the number of compounds and consumables that will be required, as well as the daily workload of smaller compound orders for our researchers and external collaborators. To better serve our customers, we are moving into a new, larger lab which will allow us to potentially bring a large collection of vials on site from the current offsite location in Frederick, MD. This expansion will allow us to be nimble but will mean we must improve our workflow for storage of vials and consumables: We cannot use Excel spreadsheets for tracking consumables and labeled cardboard boxes for storing a glass vial library when we anticipate our demand and throughput to dramatically increase after moving to the new lab and with the emergence of new coronavirus subtypes mandating continued screening efforts above and beyond our normal workload. As such, we are interested in a complete package encompassing an automated, computer-interfaced Automated Storage / Retrieval System (AS/RS) custom designed to hold hundreds of thousands of glass vials; high density mobile shelving (HDMS) to hold bulk quantities of laboratory consumables; as well as a software package to manage and control the AS/RS unit and manage the consumables inventory of the HDMS. This will ensure we can easily and effectively plan screening campaigns and ensure we have the right compounds and the proper number of consumables on-site with little effort from the laboratory technician and manager. Project requirements: Shuttle XP Vertical Lift manufactured by Kardex and sold/installed by F.A O'Toole (authorized dealer) with standard installation, temporary disassembly to support delivery, Power Pick Global software and PC, and additional training and remote support for the laser pointer programming. Also, a high density mobile shelving unit (custom) manufactured by Aurora and sold/installed by F.A O'Toole with six mobile shelves and installation. Salient characteristics Overall unit size of 133""W x 91""D x 10'H; 40 Trays measuring 120""W x 24""D with 540 lb. capacity per tray; laser pointer for vial identification.
