- Description
- Joint Base San Antonio 59 Dental Squadron is in need of accreditation of the General Dental Education Program. The contractor shall renew accreditation for the 59th Dental Group's six (6) Dental Residency Programs and One (1) Fellowship Program for one year. The contractor has to be a nationally recognized by the United States Department of Education to accredit dental and dental-related education programs conducted at the post-secondary level. Accreditation is a non-governmental, voluntary peer review process by which educational institutions or programs may be granted public recognition for compliance with accepted standards of quality and performance . Specialized accrediting agencies exist to assess and verify educational quality in particular professions or occupations to ensure that individuals will be qualified to enter those disciplines. Aspecialized accrediting agency rrcognizes the course of instruction which comprises a unique set of skills and knowledge, develops the accreditation standards by which such educational programs are evaluated, conducts evaluation of programs, and publishes a list of accredited programs that meet the national accreditation standards. Accreditation standards are developed in consultation with those affected by the standards who represent the broad communities of interest. This accreditation requirement is based on Air Force Instruction (AFI) 41-117 dated 23 March 2015; Chapter 1, Paragraphs 1.3.1 and 1.3.2 state the following ""USAF Military Training Facilities (MTFs) and other agencies conducting education programs must apply for and maintain accreditation by the national accrediting agency for each program. USAF institutions sponsoring accredited programs must ensure that the programs continue to meet accreditation standards and criteria."" Chapter 4, paragraph 4.14.1 states the following: ""Accreditation programs are accredited by CODA or appropriate program specialty accreditation, when such accreditation exists. USAF institutions that sponsor GDE must ensure sufficient support for program compliance with all CODA standards. Any organizations that may be able meet these requirement, please email me at parris.watson.2@us.af.mil with information pertaining to your organization.
