Description: THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT ANNOUNCEMENT ONLY. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL. The Technical Applications Contracting Office, Ft. Eustis, VA is seeking information on potential firms qualified to provide a proposal on a future solicitation. The proposed award will be a contract for qualification testing and fielding of a Light Weight Fast Rope Insertion and Extraction System (FRIES) to reduce weight on the MH-60M Black Hawk helicopter. The modifications are intended to reduce system weight but retain the existing specifications. The FRIES shall mount to the cabin ceiling of the MH-60M aircraft. The FRIES shall have quick release handle to release the fast rope. The FRIES shall have maximum asymmetrical load limit for either side of 1300 lbs. and a maximum symmetrical loading of 1500 lbs. The FRIES shall demonstrate acceptable margins of safety at the aircraft structural attachments when subjected to the following: Insertion limit load factor of 2.0 and a cone angle of 30 degrees with both symmetric and asymmetric rope loading. Factors of safety of 1.0 on yield and 1.5 on ultimate shall be maintained. Extraction limit load factor of 3.0 and a cone angle of 30 degrees with both symmetric and asymmetric rope loading. Factors of safety of 1.0 on yield and 1.5 on ultimate shall be maintained. Crash load factors are as follows: Load Factors:� Unless otherwise specified, the supports for all mass items which would pose a hazard to personnel during a crash shall withstand the following ultimate load factors: �� Applied Separately�� Applied Simultaneously �� (a)�� (b)�� (c) Longitudinal�� 20�� 20�� 10�� 10 Vertical�� 20/-10�� 10/-5�� 20/-10�� 10/-5 Lateral�� 18�� 9�� 9�� 18�� Factors of Safety of 1.0 on ultimate shall be maintained.
