- Description
- The intent of this RFI is to identify sources that can provide Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) instrumentation systems for measuring performance of Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGV) operating in the Global Positioning System (GPS) degraded test environment. GPS degraded environments can be characterized as areas where freespace satellite signals are inconsistent or unavailable. Examples include under the forest canopy, heavy foliage, narrow valleys, areas with heavy ground clutter such as boulders or large vehicles, and similar obstruction. These test environments typically do not provide consistent Line-of-Sight throughout the mission area. The operating surface may include paved or graveled test tracks, dormant and verdant woodland areas, mud, swamp and fjording areas. Instrumentation are required to unobtrusively mount on test assets to accurately track and report the position of unmanned and robotic test assets in these challenging environments. This RFI is focused on identifying instrumentation to satisfy MAJOR TEST INSTRUMENTATION PROGRAM ROBOTICS/UNMANNED AUTONOMOUS SYSTEMS (RUAS) instrumentation requirements for outdoor testing of UGVs in the GPS degraded environment with precise real-time tracking of systems operating on range; instrumentation that meets the strict Size, Weight, and Power (SWAP) requirements to enable unobtrusive placement onboard the variety of autonomous systems under test; and tools to reduce and visualize unique autonomous data sets. Collateral goal is to build a qualified list of commercial PNT instrumentation with SWAP characteristics suitable for onboard test and measurement of small unmanned systems operating in conditions similar to these test environments at remote locations. These GPS degraded test environments are NOT GPS Denied (Jammed) test environments.
